Fearing Evil

Why do we fear evil? We fear change, we fear anything new, we feel uncomfortable in new situations. But why fear evil?

Evil is nothing new, it's been around since Adam and Eve took a bite out of forbidden fruit. So why are we so scared of evil?

Evil has already been defeated. Jesus did that on the cross. He took our place and destroy the sin that took our hearts, our souls. He made us one with God again. Jesus defeated evil. Why would we be scared of something that has lost?

So it it's dead, and old, why are we so surprised when we see evil in the world? Why are we scared of it?

Why fear evil?

New Years Resolution: Laugh More?

Hi guys! How's the new year treating you? Have you made any resolutions? Are you good at sticking to your resolutions? I've made a few. Play guitar more, spend more time with family, take care of myself. That kind of thing. But there is one resolution that I think everyone should have, regardless of age, gender, beliefs. Okay, what is it? I can hear you all asking. Just this: laugh more.

Okay, Sarah. But why? Why? Are you asking me for a reason to laugh more? You don't need a reason! Life is incredible, the fact that you are alive, that you exist, is that not a miracle? And isn't a miracle the best thing to laugh at? A miracle such as life should be a joyful thing.

You see, us humans have a certain way of over-complicating our lives. And that usually leads to stress, anxiety, depression. All that lovely stuff. But laughing helps. Laughing makes you and the people around you more comfortable. It has a way of connecting people. It's almost a sort of magic spell to connect people and make them happy.

Yeah, magic is great and all, but what about hard facts? What about science? I'm glad you asked! Of course there's been research into to the health benefits of laughter. We've all heard that saying that "laughter is the best medicine." Well, it's true. It's been proven to lower hormones (can I get an amen from all the teens?), prevent heart disease, and boost your immune system.

So there you have it. Reasons to laugh, if you needed more. I challenge you all to laugh more this year. Spend more time with family/friends, get a joke book or a joke of the day app, whatever you have to do to laugh a bit more. God Bless!

Introduction

I didn't think I'd be creating a new blog, but here I am...

Well hey there! It's your friend Sarah here... with a new blog... again. But this time I'm sticking to it! I think. I hope. Basically I missed having a blog and I couldn't think of a post for the others. So here we are!

So maybe you don't know me well. That's all right, my name is Sarah, I'm a Christian, a daughter/sister, a fangirl, and a work in progress. (Yeah, I think I'm adorable with my fab segway into the name of the title!) And aren't we all?

That brings us to the blog title. I honestly didn't know what I was going to name it. So I named it Work In Progress. And then I thought, well isn't that just perfect? I accidentally named the blog exactly what it needed to be. Wow. Well thank you, God! Anyway, this blog is going to be a safe, encouraging place about making progress in our minds, hearts, and relationships (especially with God). Stick by and follow by email if you're interested. Love you, and God bless!
